Nominees sought for Advisory Council of Employee Welfare and Pensions Benefit Plans

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) is looking for nominees to fill five positions on the Advisory Council of Employee Welfare and Pensions Benefit Plans (ERISA Advisory Council), according to the U.S. Department of Labor

The deadline to submit nominations has been extended to Aug. 31, the Labor Department said in a release.

The organization provides input on policies and regulations involving employee benefits set by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). The positions that are currently available are for a three-year term and will involve groups that deal with employee benefits.

The EBSA, which consists of 15 council members, meets at least four times per year. The group makes recommendations regarding ERISA decisions to the secretary of Labor, who appoints the members. Those appointed will generally be working 15 to 20 days a year.

To apply, nominees must briefly describe their qualifications and position they desire to fill. Nominations need to include the nominee's name, work affiliation, mailing address, phone number and email address, according to the Labor Department.

Additionally, nomination applications need to be submitted by means of a letter, petition or resolution, and should be signed by the individual or their organization. The application needs to include the nominating party's name, mailing address, phone number and email address.

Send the signed nomination applications to Larry Good, executive secretary of the ERISA Advisory Council, at good.larry@dol.gov.
