Aerojet Rocketdyne reports successful rocket launch in California

Aerojet Rocketdyne commended the "flawless performance" of its propulsion system following the launch of classified payload for the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office in a recent release from its parent company, Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings.

"Today's flawless performance of our propulsion systems is a reflection of the continuing dedication and professionalism of everyone at Aerojet Rocketdyne,” Jerry Tarnacki, senior vice president of Aerojet Rocketdyne's space systems business unit, said in the release. 

Tarnacki said system components used in the launch at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket were engineered at various locations, including sites in Sacramento, California; West Palm Beach, Florida; New Jersey; and Redmond, Washington.” 

The company said in the release that its engines have played a part in sending satellites into orbit for the past 50 years, including military, government and commercial missions.

"We're delighted to continue providing propulsion systems in support of our warfighters, at home and overseas,"  Aerojet Rocketdyne CEO and President Eileen Drake, said in the release. "(We)look forward to supporting future missions to ensure our nation's security and that of our allied forces."
