Duke signs fingerprint-sharing arrangement with Italian interior minister

Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Elaine Duke recently met with Marco Minniti, Italy's interior minister, to sign the Secure Real Time Platform (SRTP) Implementing Arrangement.

The SRTP aims to help Italy and the United States identify suspected terrorists and other persons of interest by exchanging fingerprints collected by either country, according to an announcement.

Duke and Minniti also discussed ways to boost standards for international air travel, as well as cooperation on issues such as counterterrorism, managing migration and maintaining passenger-screening data between the United States and the European Union within the bounds of existing agreements.

The signing session took place during the meeting of G-7 interior ministers in Italy.
