The Family Research Council (FRC) and American Family Association (AFA) recently sent a petition with over 77,000 signatures to the Pentagon to support Col. Leland Bohannon.

After serving for over a decade in the Air Force, he was suspended from command, had his decoration withheld, and was not recommended for promotion after he sought a religious exemption to not sign a spouse appreciation certificate for an airman in a same-sex marriage.

The petition pleaded with Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson to fully reverse the complaint against Bohannon and remove it from his record. Thirty-one religious liberty advocacy groups also signed a letter asking Wilson to change the Air Force policy to allow for religious liberty.

Bohannon is being legally represented by the First Liberty Institute, which seeks to protect religious liberty for all Americans.
