American Security Today (AST) hosted its 2017 ASTORS Homeland Security Awards Luncheon on Nov. 15 at New York City's Jacob Javits Convention Center.

The Sharp INTELLOS Automated Unmanned Ground Vehicle (A-UGV) was awarded as the "Best Investigation/Surveillance/Detection Product." The A-UGV is a complex, independent data-gathering and monitoring robot. It allows for observation and has sensor equipment to adjust for safety needs. Sharp Electronics was also the platinum winner for "Leadership & Innovation in Homeland Security."

AST organized the luncheon with the theme Keep Our Nation Safe – One City at a Time. Michael Madsen, publisher of AST, indicated that winners would be featured in AST's Annual December ASTORS Champions Edition Year in Review.

Cliff Quiroga, vice president for Sharp Robotics Business Development, and Alice DiSanto, director of marketing, accepted the award. Sharp invested strongly in voice of customer feedback from first responders, which contributed to the Sharp INTELLOS A-UGV features.
