Comtech Telecommunications nets $9.4 million aircraft amplifier order

Long Island, New York-based Comtech Telecommunications Corp. recently announced that its Santa Clara, California affiliate Comtech Xicom Technology has obtained an order worth over $9.4 million for sound equipment destined for airborne connectivity use.

Developed from materials including gallium nitride, the Solid-State Power Amplifiers will power high-speed satellite connections in aircraft cabins while aloft, supporting manufacturing through most of 2018.

"Travelers expect fast and reliable broadband satellite connectivity in the air,” Comtech Telecommunications President and CEO Fred Kornberg said. “We are pleased to support our customer as they roll out solutions to fulfill these needs."

Under the oversight of Comtech’s Commercial Solutions division, Comtech Xicom Technology produces high-power, tube-based and solid-state amplifiers for both commercial and military satellite use. Power levels vary from 8 watts to 3 kilowatts with frequency in sub-band ranging from 2 to 51 gigahertz.

The manufacturer supplies customers with amplifiers for numerous applications from fixed and ground-based to maritime and airborne.
