Vencore Labs Inc., the research branch of Vencore, was recently awarded three-year agreements for the Comprehensive Spectrum Monitoring System (COSMOS), worth $7.9 million, and the Spectrum Usage Measurement System (SUMS), worth $6.8 million.

These programs are yet another collaboration with the Department of Defense, which Vencore Labs has worked with for over a decade as part of the National Spectrum Consortium Other Transaction Agreement.

The COSMOS will monitor actual spectrum utilization use and anomalies and produce a robust spectrum solution for the U.S. Navy, two types of programmable radio frequency sensors, and data exchange programming interfaces.

The SUMS will assist various Defense Department agencies, including Naval Air Systems Command, the Air Force and the Army. It will focus on telemetry spectrum usage and build on the previously developed Spectrum Management System prototype to result in a system that measures multi-band RF spectrum usage for airborne telemetry systems.
