AMERICAN PETROLEUM INSTITUTE: RSS API Calls On U.S. Senate To Approve Andrew Wheeler’s Nomination To EPA

American Petroleum Institute issued the following announcement on April 11.

API President and CEO Jack Gerard called on members of the U.S. Senate to approve the nomination of Andrew Wheeler to be Deputy Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

“Smart regulation provides necessary certainty for robust U.S. energy investments that ensure America has the energy it needs now and in the future to increase national security, grow the economy, improve the trade imbalance and further environmental progress,” said Gerard.

“Andrew Wheeler knows the important role that natural gas and oil plays in the daily life of every American and will work to further a smarter, science-based regulatory agenda. His career experience on federal regulatory and legislative issues will prove to be a valued asset to EPA. We encourage the Senate to put Andrew to work at EPA soon and move quickly on other well-qualified nominees.”

API is the only national trade association representing all facets of the oil and natural gas industry, which supports 10.3 million U.S. jobs and nearly 8 percent of the U.S. economy.

API’s more than 625 members include large integrated companies, as well as exploration and production, refining, marketing, pipeline, and marine businesses, and service and supply firms. They provide most of the nation’s energy and are backed by a growing grassroots movement of more than 40 million Americans.
