AMERICAN GAS ASSOCIATION: Supports DHS/TSA/DOE’s Pipeline Cybersecurity Initiative

American Gas Association issued the following announcement on Oct. 9

On October 2, the American Gas Association (AGA) hosted the Oil and Natural Gas Sector Coordinating Council meeting with the U.S. Departments of Homeland Security (DHS) and Energy (DOE) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regarding their new Pipeline Cybersecurity Initiative. The initiative highlights the updated TSA guidelines, which AGA helped develop.

“Natural gas utilities welcome the opportunity to advance cybersecurity programs through this constructive partnership -- coalescing the security expertise of these three federal government groups with industry operators,” said AGA President and CEO Dave McCurdy.

The group also discussed how the industry and government can take a more strategic approach to secure pipelines and other critical infrastructure including collaborating to better understand the threat landscape and direct more targeted and prioritized risk management activities.
