U.S. Department of the Interior issued the following announcement on March 27.
Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt issued the following statement today in response to the President signing the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act:
“Since day one, President Trump has taken bold, decisive actions to combat the spread of the coronavirus, and his leadership in securing the passage of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act is another example of how he is affirmatively leading our nation’s response efforts to provide economic relief to small businesses and to support Americans’ health care needs. This law will provide unprecedented, additional financial support to Interior’s operations, furthering our efforts to deploy law enforcement and emergency personnel to critical areas, aid tribal governments, extend Bureau of Indian Education teacher and workforce salary needs and send additional medical supplies and equipment to the Territories and Freely Associated States.”
